Biography

Dr. Jada Willis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Texas Christian University. Dr. Willis received her B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, where she also completed a dietetic internship. Dr. Willis has worked as a clinical dietitian for a number of facilities.

Dr. Willis is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Licensed Dietitian. She is currently a member of the Tarrant Area Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Dallas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She also holds membership in the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors (NDEP). Dr. Willis currently serves the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics on the Nominating Committee. For five years, she was the legislative chair for the Lubbock Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Dr. Willis is also a member of The Obesity Society and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Willis currently serves on the Department of Nutritional Sciences Research Review Board; TCU Interprofessional Research, Education and Practice Council; UNTHSC Interprofessional Education Curriculum Committee; Interprofessional Education (IPE) Faculty Facilitator for IPE health professions students; and on the Tarrant County Food Policy Council.

Her current teaching responsibilities include Supervised Practice in General Dietetics; Communication and Education for Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics; Nutrition Throughout the Lifecycle; and Research Methods in Nutrition.

Dr. Willis’ research interests include a variety of areas from human obesity to exercise performance. In particular, how dietary fatty acids affect hunger, satiety and metabolism. Dr. Willis has presented research at numerous conferences and national meetings and has been published in several esteemed journals. In 2013, she was honored as a Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has also been honored with several distinguished teaching awards.
